The Lady Spartans dropped a tight game in Juab, losing 8-7 on Thursday.

Emery jumped out to a 2-0 in the top of the first inning, but Juab stormed back to score eight runs in the bottom-half of the frame.

Emery was able to whittle the lead down to one going into the seventh inning. Jeredi Price hit a one-out double and Jolynn Jennings followed with a two-out, infield single to set up the most tense moment of the game. With two outs and two on, Makia Sherman laced a line drive to deep center field where the ball came to rest in a defender’s glove.

Emery’s Region 12 record fell to 5-3.

The Lady Spartans try to avenge a mid-season loss at North Sanpete on May 6.
