Spartan Swimmers Win Region

The Emery High boys swim team hoisted the Region 15 trophy on the strength of 270 points at Saturday’s Region 15 meet.

Emery had a combined (boys and girls) score of 452 points, good enough for third place overall. A host of Spartans qualified for the 2A State Competition at the meet.

Emery’s boys started the meet off in style with a win in the 200 Medley Relay. Tyler Rowley, Eli Oliverson, Weston Allinson and Tyler Pulli dominated the competition with a time of 1:55.54.

Emery continued with top-five finishes in various events. Highlights included Oliverson and Spencer Fauver finishing first and third, respectively, in the 100 Freestyle, and Allinson and Rowley finishing first and second, respectively, in the 100 backstroke.

Hailee Rogers won the 100 backstroke for the girls team.

The 2A State Swim Meet begins Feb. 3.

Though Emery High School was 2A, the swim team competed (and still competes) in 3A swimming. This was a 3A region meet, and we competed in the 3A state meet that year as well.
