The Emery Spartan wrestling squad competed in the 2A State Duels at the Sevier Valley Center Friday and Saturday. Senior wrestler Ty Mecham won all 10 rounds, which included seven falls. Mecham wrestles at 285 pounds.
The varsity wrestling team finished in the middle of the pack of 16 teams. They were victorious over Kanab (40-27), San Juan (55-18), Grand County (39-36), Gunnison (30-51), Layton Christian (45-27) and Summit Academy (53-12), while losing to Beaver, North Sevier, Enterprise, and North Summit.
JV wrestlers also competed in an extra division, coming away with several wins.
