Maeser Prep hosted Emery in the opening round of the 3A state soccer tournament on Wednesday.
Despite a goal by Brock Winter for the Spartans in the first half, Emery found itself down 2-1 at the break. The Spartans never could find the equalizer and fell by the same score.
“We played great just could not find the net again,” said head coach Troy Winter.
Emery finishes the year winners of seven games with a 7-7-1 mark overall. In region play, the Spartans earned a 5-4-1 record. Winter led the team offensively, recording 12 goals in 15 games for Emery.
