The Emery High School football team capitalized on four interceptions and two fumble recoveries and cruised to a 30-10 win over Uintah on Friday in Castle Dale.

Jesse Winn and David Dyer scored two touchdowns apiece to lead the offense. Spencer Labrum connected with Dyer for the Spartans’ only passing touchdown.

A close game turned into a blowout when, with Emery leading 14-10, Uintah tried to drive the length of the field in less than 60 seconds. Uintah’s drive ended with a Bailey Faimalo interception. Labrum connected with Dyer on play later with four seconds left in the half.

Emery’s defense went to work in the second half and held Uintah to a 34-yard field goal.

The Spartans, a mild surprise at 2-0, begin 2A North Region play Friday at rival Manti.
