The Emery High School football team capitalized on four interceptions and two fumble recoveries and cruised to a 30-10 win over Uintah on Friday in Castle Dale.
Jesse Winn and David Dyer scored two touchdowns apiece to lead the offense. Spencer Labrum connected with Dyer for the SpartansвЂ™ only passing touchdown.
A close game turned into a blowout when, with Emery leading 14-10, Uintah tried to drive the length of the field in less than 60 seconds. UintahвЂ™s drive ended with a Bailey Faimalo interception. Labrum connected with Dyer on play later with four seconds left in the half.
EmeryвЂ™s defense went to work in the second half and held Uintah to a 34-yard field goal.
The Spartans, a mild surprise at 2-0, begin 2A North Region play Friday at rival Manti.
