Once again, the Lady Spartans golf team captured another region championship. This is the fourth straight region championship the ladies have won, which means a win for each year since Emery has had a team. The tournament took place at Cove View Golf Course in Richfield on May 11.

The team played a consistent golf game while having five players score in the 60’s. The team was led by Taijah Price who scored a tournament high of 74 points. Sydnee Guymon and Lainee Jensen both scored a total of 64 points, Sarah Swasey, 62, Sydney Timothy, 60 and Erin Oliverson, 48.

This season, medal honors for Region 18 went to Guymon who scored 256 points total this season. She was followed closely by Price who had 252 points to finish with the second place region medal. Other golfers from Emery who finished in the top 10 receiving all region honors included Jensen in fifth place, Timothy sixth (tie) and Swasey eighth.

“All of these golfers but Lainee are seniors and will hope to improve on their last year’s second place state finish,” stated head coach Tom Hansen.

“We would like to thank this years sponsors, Desert View Federal Credit Union, Genco Mining, Johansen & Tuttle Engineering, Jay Stilson DDS, Ferron American Legion, Magnuson Lumber, sewamuseing.com, along with previous years sponsors, Anadarko Petrolium, Emery Telcom, Tony Basso Auto Sales, J&D Automotive, Live Earth, Boyd’s Pharmacy, Industrial Electric and Ty’s Cabinets.”
