Emery played its third game in two days on Wednesday, this time against the Union Cougars.

The Spartans found themselves in an early hole when they gave up five runs in the second inning. Emery then gave up three more runs in the fourth to make it a 8-1 contest. Down 9-2 in the sixth, Emery tried to make another comeback and scored five runs, but could not get anything going in the seventh. Emery fell 9-7.

There were nine errors in the game split evenly between the two teams, Emery with five and Union with four. The Spartans were able to score seven runs on three total hits. Koda Alton led the Spartans with three RBIs.

Emery will host Richfield on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The Spartans will then play on the Salt Lake Bee’s home turf against Bear Lake at 6 p.m. at the Smith Ballpark in SLC on Wednesday. This opportunity was given to the Spartans after they sold an undisclosed amount of Bee’s tickets as a fundraiser. It will be a fun atmosphere for the team and it will be something that the Spartans will aim to do every year.
