Spartans Continue on War Path

The Emery Spartans kept up their winning ways when they faced South Summit (7-2, 0-0 Region 13) on Monday night.

Brax Jensen had a number of slick assists in the game. One came at the end of the first quarter when he threw an alley-oop pass to Kyler Wilstead to extend the Emery lead to 13-9. Later in the third quarter on a fast break, Jensen sent a bounce pass through two defenders to hit Kyson Stilson in stride for an easy layup. Stilson led the team with 22 points and seven rebounds. Jensen lit up the stat sheet and was one assist away from a double-double with 15 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and five steals. Wilstead reached double-digit points with 10 and both Wilstead and Mason Faimalo each finished with seven rebounds.

The Spartans shot 46% from the floor while recording 11 steals and 41 rebounds on the night. Emery knocked out South Summit 69-53 to improve to 7-1 in preseason play.

On Friday, Emery (7-1, 0-0 Region 15) will have a tough test ahead of them as they open up region play on the road against an undefeated South Sevier team (6-0, 0-0 Region 15).
