The Emery High rodeo team found more success over the past two weeks as cowboys and cowgirls continue to qualify for the state competition.
Marrissa Austin and Bret Nielsen recently pulled in a sixth place run in the team roping in Grantsville. Also in Grantsville, Louie Ivie pulled in a third place finish in calf roping while McKoy Christiansen took third in saddle bronc. Taylor Ewell also had success at the rodeo, taking 10th in poles.
Brooklin Ewell and Riata Christiansen found success as they placed in Juab in poles. Nathan Urie took fifth place in the saddle bronc while Hayden and Hadley Cloward earned third in saddle bronc. McKoy competed in tie down and Lacy McElprang had a good finish in breakaway.
At the rodeo in Morgan, Audy Allred was the lone cowboy to land a top ten spot.
The Heber rodeo was good to Ivie and partner Stefan Ramone as they won the team roping contest. Ivie also place in tie down with Riata taking fourth in poles. McKoy also got a fourth place finish in the saddle bronc competition.
This weekend, the team will gear up for a rodeo in Delta, the last of the team’s regular season rodeos. The Spartans will then take a couple weeks off before traveling to Heber for the state finals.
