Winners of four-straight games entering the first weekend of the 2A playoffs, the Emery High baseball team finds itself now entering the second weekend without a loss.

The Spartans upended Kanab and American Leadership Academy Saturday and now will face Millard Thursday at Dixie State College.

Brandon Oliver picked up his team-high sixth win of the season on the mound and Tappan Draper hit a double in Emery’s 8-4 win against Kanab. The Spartans trailed after one inning 3-1, and then broke through in the fourth and fifth innings for three and four runs, respectively.

Emery needed just five innings in a 14-3 win against American Leadership, advancing to Thursday’s matchup against Millard. Draper, Jordan Cox, and Dominic Rondinelli all doubled in the game.

Emery (8-2, 15-7) will take on the Millard (9-3, 17-6) in the 2A Quarterfinals at 11 a.m. Thursday.

The Lady Spartans (6-2, 15-7) have dropped three-straight games to end the regular season and are preparing to take on Millard (9-3, 19-4) Thursday to begin the 2A playoffs.
