After being no hit on Wednesday against Uintah, the Emery Spartans responded on Friday with an 8-3 win over San Juan, picking up their first 2A East win.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak. Emery had lost eight of its previous nine games.
In two games against Uintah this season, Emery failed to register a single run, having been outscored 23-0 in both non-region tilts.
Emery (3-9, 1-2 2A East) is currently in fifth place in the region standings, sitting one game up on Monticello who has failed to win a region game so far this season. The Spartans will play at home against Gunnison (9-5, 3-1 2A East) on Tuesday and in Gunnison on Friday.
