Spartans Face Off Against Richfield and Gunnison, Take Second

Hoping to add another successful meet under their belt, the Emery High swim team traveled to Richfield on Thursday to face off against the hosting school as well as Gunnison.

Both teams finished second out of the three schools with the girls’ team missing the first place title by a margin of only eight points.

Lexi Johansen, Tarryn Parkins, Erin Oliverson and Madi Allinson put together the A team for the girls’ 200 yard medley relay, which took first at a time of 2:22.13. Darly Guymon then represented the school’s next first-place finishes in the boys’ 200 and also 100 yard freestyle coming in at 2:01.61 and 53.66, respectively.

The boys’ team continued its first-place streak with the 200 yard freestyle relay team coming in at 1:42.74 thanks to team members Daryl and Keldan Guymon, Garret Stilson and Devin Willson. Madi Allinson finished first for the Spartans in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:10.20.

Delta and ALA will next travel to Emery to face off against the Spartans at home on Friday, Jan. 15. The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10 starting at 2 p.m.
