Spartans Hold Off Cougars, Pick Up 4-3 Win*Photo Gallery*

The Emery Spartans picked up their sixth straight victory after a 4-3 win over Region 14 foe Union Wednesday afternoon.

After beating Grand 4-1 the previous day, Emery welcomed the Cougars to Castle Dale for the non-region tilt.

Jace Collard turned in another solid pitching performance for Emery, giving up three earned runs in 6 1/3 innings of work. Easton Gordon gave up just one run on four hits against Grand on Tuesday. Collard gave up just five hits against the Cougars.

Easton Gordon had two hits in the game with an RBI. Kyson Stilson had two hits as well. Colton Willson and Jared Snow knocked in the other runs in the game.

Emery scored all four runs in the first two innings. Down 4-2 in the seventh, Union added a run to attempt the comeback, but reliever Cade Brazier pitched the final 2/3 of the top of the seventh to shut the door on the Cougars.

Emery (6-1, 1-0 Region 15) will travel to Moab on Friday for a matchup with the Grand Red Devils.
