The Emery Spartans went head-to-head with the Carbon Dinos on Tuesday evening for a swim meet hosted by Emery. The two rivals were joined by North Sanpete and South Sevier.
The night started off strong with the girls’ 200 yard medley relay. Sydney Terwilleger, Haley Guymon, Kaelee Hooley and Alexis Johansen of Emery teamed up and grabbed a first place win with a time of 2:08.60. The small group out swam Carbon’s team, which consisted of Megan Swasey, Nicole Swasey, Sofia Crompton and Shannon Baker, who came in second place.
Emery again dominated in both the girls’ and boys’ 200 free with Emery’s BriAnne Bass and Ashey Beagley taking first in both events while Carbon’s Emily Jespersen and Kinnon Lyman both took second place.
Shortly after, Carbon’s Megan Swasey swiped a first place spot in the girls’ 200 IM with a time of 2:39.84. Carbon’s Shannon Baker also came in first in the girls’ 50 free with a time of 28.46 while Emery’s Alexis Johansen came in shortly after for second place with a time of 28.74.
Emery’s Keldon Guymon placed first in the boys’ 50 free with a time of 23.71 while Carbon’s Rylan Chamberlain grabbed a close second place finish with a time of 25.27. Guymon again took first place in the boys’ 100 fly.
Jespersen returned to the girls 500 free where she snatched a first place for Carbon with a time of 6:53.19. This win would then push Emery’s Sydney Terwilleger into second place.
Carbon again beat Emery in the boys’ and girls’ 100 backstroke with Megan Swasey and Rylan Chamberlain both taking first. This was then followed shortly by Emery’s Levi Olsen and Raquelle Simmons.
Emery made a strong comeback in the boys’ 400 free relay when Allen Durrant, Levi Olsen, Eli Beagley and Jonathan Seely teamed up to bring home first place and a time of 4:14.90. Carbon’s Matthew Torres, Hunter Heath, Brock Morris and Dallen Tweddell swam a 4:40.76, receiving second place.
Emery’s girls swam away with first place in the meet with 416 points while Carbon’s girls came in second place with 370 points. Emery again took first place at the meet with 374 points and outswam Carbon with 269 points.
Emery will swim again at home this Thursday at 4:00 p.m. Carbon will travel to Vernal next Wednesday, Jan. 17, for their next meet.
