Emery headed to Richfield on Friday in an attempt to get even with the Wildcats. The Spartans were down 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth when the wheels fell off. With two outs and a runner on first, Emery committed an error.
Richfield capitalized by stringing together seven hits and scoring nine runs. Emery never could gain momentum and fell 10-0. The Spartans only managed two hits in what could have been a pitchers’ duel if not for the fielding error.
Emery (6-6, 4-2 Region 15) will look to rebound against San Juan (3-7, 1-3 Region 15) after a tough week. On Tuesday, the Spartans will travel to San Juan before taking on the Broncos at home on Friday.
