Leading 14-0 at halftime, the Emery Spartans couldn’t stop a hurried Manti Templar team in the second half and picked up their first loss of the 2012 season.
Manti elected to go for a two point conversion instead of an extra point with less than two minutes remaining in the game to seal the victory. Down 15-14, Spartan quarterback Spencer Labrum was intercepted on the ensuing drive.
Emery running back Marco Mota rushed for a touchdown and receiverВ Bailey Faimalo hauled in a long td pass from Labrum, all in the first half, to push Emery’s lead to 14-0 heading into the break.
Emery (2-1, 0-1 2A North) will face North Sevier (0-3, 0-1 2A North) on Friday.
The game will be broadcast live on ETV Channel 10.
