Spartans Play at Smith’s Ballpark

Emery faced off against Bear Lake at Smith’s Ballpark on Wednesday.

It was a scoreless game entering the third inning when Bear Lake hit a solo home run with two outs. The Spartans got the run back in the bottom half after a pair of singles and an error. The Bears were able to manufacture one run with a single, sacrifice bunt and another single in the top of the fourth to go up 2-1. The Spartans were able to tie the game in the fifth but left runners stranded on the conners.

The contest remained tied in the seventh until a string of errors hurt the Spartans. Bear Lake capitalized and scored four runs in the frame to obtain the 6-2 win. Kason Stilson pitched a great game, lasting eight innings with nine strikeouts while giving up three earned runs on six hits. Emery struggled again at the plate with only five hits but had 37 quality at-bats.

Emery (6-5, 4-1 Region 15) will look hand the Wildcats (11-2, 4-0 Region 15) their first region loss when they travel to Richfield on Friday.
