While at the 2A Divisionals on Friday and Saturday, the Emery High wrestling team managed to score a number of victories and qualify several wrestlers for the state tournament this coming weekend.
Over 15 wrestlers competed for the Black and Gold with 10 qualifying for state and two taking home a first-place finishes in their weight classes.
Gus Dalton, 138 lbs, along with senior Ty Mecham, 285 lbs, walked away with firsts for Emery and snagged a spot in the state tourney later this week.
Korby Christiansen, 106 lbs, Chase Christainsen, 113 lbs, Trace Funk, 120 lbs, Zachary World, 126 lbs, McKay Meccariello, 132 lbs, Clint Allred, 132 lbs, Newt Oveson, 160 lbs, Duke Curtis, 195 lbs, and Aaron Reeve, 285 lbs, also qualified for state.
Emery finished seventh in Division B with 158 points and 11th overall. The state tournament will take place this weekend, Feb. 10-11, at Utah Valley University.
