The Emery Spartans have already delved deep into another rodeo season with 10 competitors qualifying for the state finals after just four rodeos.
“These past few weeks have been quite a roller coaster ride for us, but hey, that just means we’ve had some ups to go with the downs,” rodeo coaches shared on social media. “We have had 10 members place in the top 10 in their events in our first four rodeos of the season, which means some of them brought home some cha-ching, some bling and all 10 of them are headed to state finals next summer.”
Ty Gordon and Taylor Wilstead will be sporting new buckles for their first place finish at the Rich Rodeo in Vernal as well as Hayden Cloward for third in team roping and Louie Ivie for second and third in tie-down. Dani Johansen represented the Spartans and placed in the rifle shoot while McKoy Christiansen and Riata Christiansen are chalking up points in the reined cowhorse event. Rookies Wyatt and Will Magnuson qualified for their first time in team roping in Vernal.
The Spartans will now have a two-week break before once again taking to the arena on Sept. 11-12 in Panguitch.
