After taking an early 3-0 lead on a Brock Winter 40-yard field goal on their opening possession, the Emery Spartans saw the Richfield Wildcats rip off 42 straight points to take the 42-9 win to kick of the 2018 season in Castle Dale.

Richfield’s Emmit Hafen accounted for four of Richfield’s six TDs on the night, three through the air and another on the ground.

Emery was stuck on just three points until the 1:21 mark of the third when running back Szion Gibson took one to the house from 12 yards out.

Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.

Winter’s 40 yarder at the 7:15 mark of the first quarter was set up by a pass and catch for 52 yards from Kyson Stilson to Jaxton Madsen that got Emery inside the Wildcat 15-yard line.

Emery (0-1, 0-0 3A North) will travel to play at Grand (0-1, 0-0 2A South) on Friday. Morgan beat Grand on Friday night, 42-6.
