The Emery High School symphonic band presented its annual spring concert Thursday evening. Richard Nobee, band instructor, welcomed parents and guests, giving acknowledgement to the parents for the amazing talent on stage.
The evening began with the whole band playing a lively march “El Capitan” by John Phillip Sousa. One of the director’s favorite pieces, “O Magnum Mysterium” by Morten Lauridsen, was a heartfelt melodic piece originally written for choir. The highlight of the evening was a piano duet performed by Bridger Ivie and Cory Eden, “Malaguezza.”
The finale featured two young ladies, Brooklin Potter and Abigail Olsen, performing in the audience to give the number a surround sound. It was written by John Mackey and entitled “Lightning Field.” Nearly 50 students filled the stage and many played more than one instrument.
