An initially reported domestic dispute transformed into a standoff on Wednesday afternoon.
Carbon County officers and well as Price City Police officers responded to a home on Molyneux Drive in Price, near Castle Heights Elementary.
Upon arrival, they discovered that the man in question had barricaded himself in his room after an argument. Officer Zach Palacios was, according to Price City Police Captain Bill Barnes, instrumental in negotiating with the gentleman. Ultimately, he surrendered to the officers and was safely taken into custody.
The man, identified as Larry Jones, was booked into jail on the following charges: assault, domestic violence, disorderly conduct and more. He was also discovered to be in possession of a number of firearms and was a restricted person because of a previous conviction on his record.
Jones was then charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, as well as possession of heroin and marijuana. During this dispute, the students of Castle Heights Elementary were being released from school. For the children’s safety, those that walked from the school were held back during the stand-off. Those that were picked up or rode the bus were released as usual.
