A stolen power meter servicing the Rocky Mountain Power meter base at 1150 N. Carbonville Road caused voice and data outages for Emery Telcom customers from approximately 6-9 a.m. Thursday.
Emery Telcom workers discovered the issue at approximately 8:30 a.m. and brought in generators that helped restore services by 9 a.m.
Rocky Mountain Power crews permanently replaced the meter at approximately 11 a.m.
Carbon County Sheriff’s Deputies were called and investigated the scene. Deputies said the theft would be considered a federal offense.
Emery Telcom has decided to offer a $500 reward to anyone providing information leading to an arrest.
