#2 Richfield made its way to the Spartan Center on Thursday night. Though Emery was a heavy underdog, the Spartans gave the Wildcats all they wanted. Emery played exceptional defense and executed a phenomenal game plan to remain within striking distance.

Part of that game plan was to front and double-team Nicole Willardson at every available opportunity. This led to several steals and Wildcat turnovers, and kept Willardson from taking over the game. The Spartans pulled within three by halftime and remained close until the final quarter. Then, the talent of the Wildcats won out as they pulled away to win 48-37.

Freshman Kenadie Maughan came off the bench and played a big role. She did an incredible job defending Willardson and added eight points to be named the Tram Electric Player of the Game. Aliya Lester led the Spartans in scoring with 10 points while Makalla Peacock tallied five.

Emery (9-6, 0-2) will now prepare to face Carbon (10-4, 0-1) in Price on Thursday, Feb. 19. Catch all the action live on ETV Channel 10 and online at etvnews.com/livesports.
