By Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood

I am excited to have the warm weather back in good ole Carbon County. Summer is a great time in this area with lots of fun activities to do. We have great opportunities to ride bike trails, ATV trails and lots of great outdoor activities.

I want to take a minute to recognize all of those involved in the Graduation Spectacular that occurred on graduation night. This event was well attended with approximately 300 kids in attendance and went off without any incidents. This activity has grown over the years and is a lot of fun for all who participated. Thanks to all who made this possible.

I would like to thank our partners in law enforcement for all they do to keep our community safe. I am proud to be part of this team and want to personally thank the Price City Police, Helper Police, Wellington Police, East Carbon Police, USU Eastern Police, UHP, as well as the all of the other state law enforcement agencies that operate within our county.

As an elected official, I have many occasions to engage with the community and discuss issues throughout our county. I want to give credit to the entire law enforcement team in their efforts to address these community issues. With summer in full swing, the sheriff’s office is stepping up its patrols in the outlying areas of the county, including Nine Mile and Scofield. I want to remind all of our local law enforcement officers to be ever diligent to be safe in our day-to-day activities and remind the community that law enforcement is there to serve the citizens of our community.

We live in a great community and have a great deal of pride in our local law enforcement.
