The Sunnyside City Council voted Tuesday to restrict the use of Class C fireworks in residential areas within City limits.
The restriction came after The Council received a letter from the State Fire Marshall indicating city officials would be granted the authority to limit firework usage in areas where public safety could be an issue.
The Council noted that Sunnyside’s many parks and paved areas provided plenty of room to use the fireworks safely.
