Surface Transportation Board to Host Public Scoping Meetings on Proposed Rail Line

The Seven County Infrastructure Coalition (Coalition) plans to file a request with the Surface Transportation Board (Board) for authority to construct and operate an approximately 80-mile rail line to connect the Uinta Basin to the interstate rail network.

The Board’s Office of Environmental Analysis (OEA) is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement to analyze the potential environmental impacts of the proposed rail line.

OEA is hosting six public scoping meetings in the project area to provide the public with opportunities to learn more about the project and provide input on the environmental review process.

The meetings will be held at the following locations and times:
– Monday, July 15, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Ute Tribal Auditorium, 6964 East 1000 South, Fort Duchesne, UT (the location of this meeting has been updated with the correct address since publication of the Notice of Intent in the Federal Register).
– Tuesday, July 16, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Pavilion at Moffat County Fairgrounds, 640 E. Victory Way, Craig, CO.
– Wednesday, July 17, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Carbon County Event Center, 450 S. Fairgrounds Road, Price, UT.
– Thursday, July 18, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Grace Event Center, 1024 W. Highway 40, Roosevelt, UT.
– Thursday, July 18, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m, at the Uintah Conference Center, 313 East 200 South, Vernal, UT.
– Friday, July 19, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m, at the Radisson Hotel Salt Lake City Downtown, Cottonwood Room, 215 W. S Temple, Salt Lake City, UT.

Interested parties are invited to file scoping comments. Electronic and written comments must be received and/or postmarked by August 5, 2019 to assure full consideration during the scoping process.
