Sutherlands and Elwood Staffing were spotlighted during the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon on Thursday afternoon.

Kyle Heffernan, manager of Sutherlands in Price, was the first to the podium. He took time to highlight the store’s annual Mother’s Day and Father’s Day events, which traditionally feature great deals, crafts for kids and more. This year’s Father’s Day event was extra special as Sutherlands welcomed other local vendors to the store for an expo. Upcoming in August, the store will celebrate its annual first responders appreciation sale, which will be open to all local first responders.

Heffernan took time to thank the chamber for its support as well as the customers who have helped the local store break records in the past months. He invited those in attendance to visit Sutherlands and explore the improvements the employees have recently completed.

Dustin Heaton of Elwood Staffing was the next person honored to speak at the luncheon. Elwood Staffing, formerly SOS Staffing in Price, was established in 1980 to provide talent-based solutions to local employers. The business is one of the largest staffing firms in the United States and provides a wide range of staffing services to local employers.

The final spotlight during the event shined on the town of Scofield. Due to conflicting schedules, a representative was not able to attend, but the chamber took time to highlight the town’s upcoming celebration.

Scofield’s Pleasant Valley Days will take place on July 5 and 6. This year’s celebration will feature Little Miss Pleasant Valley Days on Friday at 3 p.m. as well as dinner in the park beginning at 5 p.m. DJ John J. Harris will conclude the evening with music from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Saturday, the day will begin with breakfast in the park from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with the annual parade at 11 a.m. Activities, including a horseshoe tournament, magic show, treasure hunt and more, will take place in the park throughout the day before the celebration is capped off with fireworks at dusk.
