Doug Foulson presented the TAP Award to Don Johnson and staff at the recent Carbon County Commission meeting.
The trust is to ensure local governments throughout the state of Utah from counties, cities, towns and special service districts and covers all lines of insurance. The program has certain requirements for governments to meet in order to prevent accidents and losses in the work place, such as having an active safety committee, safety trainings and incident investigations. It is a very difficult program to complete, but was designed to be that way.
“Because this is the second year now that Carbon County has received the TAP award, it increased the discount we do on your workers compensation,” explained Doug Foulson.
Commissioner Casey Hopes also wanted to “thank the county employees for buying into the safety program and participating.”
Logan Palmer, a fifth grade student at Creekview Elementary School, also presented his Reflections project at the meeting. He made a video titled “What’s Your Story, Carbon County?” to highlight some of the things that make Carbon County rich in history. Tina Henrie with the Office of Tourism came across the video on the media site, where it was shared over 60 times and became the most popular post in February. On April 5, Logan was invited to the Travel and Tourism meeting, where he was presented with an award.
The video, which can be found below, highlighted various sites throughout Carbon County, including the Carbon Power Plant that was recently demolished. Commissioner Jae Potter congratulated Logan for a job well done.
“We appreciate what you’ve done to tell the story of Carbon County,” Potter stated.
Palmer’s video received first place at the school’s competition.
