The Millsite Dam Rehabilitation project is finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel as work continues to progress.

The cap could be on the dam by Thanksgiving if everything continues as normal, project leaders report. This is contingent on if favorable weather continues and no unforeseen circumstances occur. There is about three feet to finish the filters and five to six feet to the top. Work schedules have changed slightly as they near the top. Construction workers place filters on one day and then place sand and gravel the next day contrary to the previous situation of day and graveyard shifts.

The interesting look on the top of the dam is the work of the hoes lifting the extra soil that was used to make space for trucks to pass each other to the top of the dam. Once this earth work is finished, construction crews will wait for the spillway concrete work to be completed before they can finish the earth work around the cement.

There has been collaboration back and forth between the reviewers for the new plan on the concrete work. The construction company is only a few days away from receiving the plans and the confirmation to move forward with the change order for the spillway. This work is normally scheduled for the winter months and will continue through the winter. There has been no work done on the spillway since May 2019.

Work on the golf course is not expected to begin until spring. Plans are to replace hole #3, including creating a water hazard by the green on that hole. The bridge will also be replaced over the spillway when that work is complete. Everything seems to moving along smoothly and progressing nicely, project leaders report.
