The Helper Project Donates $8,000 to Helper Plein Air Festival

On Thursday, Oct. 4, over 75 artists throughout the State of Utah will arrive in Helper to participate in the largest Plein Air Festival ever to be held in Carbon County. The competition is being sponsored by the Adams Fine Arts Gallery located on Helper’s Main Street in the historic J.C. Penney building. Over $15,000 will be awarded to artists as prize money.

Steve Adams, a Helper artist and owner of the gallery, said, “Plein air painting is where artists paint outdoors, so we can expect to artists painting all around our community.”

Anne Morgan-Jespersen, founder of the Helper Project, stated, “We are supporting the festival because it will benefit our community both culturally and economically. It will specifically benefit local businesses in Helper by attracting tourists as well as art patrons.”

Adams added, “This will be a multi-day event, meaning that lodgings and eateries will be benefited and town pride will be heightened as locals and tourists both view the beauty of Helper and the region through the eyes of the best artists in the country.”
