Cacilia Jensen visited the Helper City Council during their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday evening to introduce herself as the Suicide Prevention Coordinator at Four Corners Behavioral Health. Jensen wished to let the community know that she is available as a resource.
A three-year grant was received to assist individuals that are having thoughts of suicide, have recently had a suicidal crisis and the like. Jensen heads the follow-up program to help assist those involved in what to do afterward. The program serves Carbon and Emery Counties and most referrals currently come from Castleview Hospital.
Also presented during the meeting was a generous donation from the Helper Project for the Rio Theater. Mayor Lenise Peterman and Councilwoman Amanda Wheeler spoke on this, stating that the donation is around the amount of $2,000 and is for the molding in the windows.
Mayor Peterman explained that when a significant donation is received, she would like to have it presented to the council and community in order to create more transparencies. It was also explained that the actual labor will be included as part of the donation. A motion was made by Councilwoman Wheeler to accept the donation, which was seconded by Councilwoman Malarie Matsuda and ultimately approved.
