Rubber burned at this year’s Carbon County Fair burnout contest, hosted next to the Carbon County Softball complex.

Cars, trucks, SUVs and even makeshift vehicles, just to name a few, showed up to put their tires and their vehicles to the test. A number of vehicles even blew out their tires as they attempted to create the biggest cloud and get the biggest cheers.

Michael Stansfield drove away in his 1974 LTD as this year’s burnout contest winner. Clancy Johnson was able to snag second in his 1980’s El Camino, followed by Kolten Jennings in his 1978 Camaro with a close third.

Carbon High cheerleaders were also in attendance, earning money for their upcoming cheer season and to perform an intermission show for the crowd.

Price City Fire Department was on standby to help get drivers wheels turning and to put out any fires in case things got a little too hot.
