Those that will be age 18 and older by Sept. 3 are invited sign up for a free training program courtesy of FutureINDesign and Blacksmith International.

The two organizations have created a new career avenue for individuals that reside in Carbon and Emery counties. An information night is to be hosted at 720 West Price River Drive (the former Bealls location) on Aug. 5 beginning at 6 p.m. and those that are interested in the program are encouraged to attend.

During the information night, those in attendance will meet the instructors and learn more about the program. Computers will be available that evening for those that are interested in applying for the program. There also be an opportunity to sign up for an interview to be accepted, which will take place from Aug. 11-16. The third session is slated to begin on Sept. 3.

This manufacturing 4.0 training session is completely free and is a 10-week session. The classes are eight hours per week, which is broken down in six hours per week in-class learning soft and hard skills and two hours per week that is spent as open floor time. The open floor time is utilized for students to enter the facility and work on completing assigned projects. A goal of manufacturing 4.0 is to prepare the students with skills needed to interview with Blacksmith International.

Participants will also be schooled on soft skills in professionalism, which is an essential element of a good employee. Hard skills will involve a trade on industrial sewing machines manufacturing fabric goods.

Those that wish to obtain employment at Blacksmith International must have a set of work skills obtainable through hard work and instruction. These skills are learning, growing and willing to be flexible. The ability to be a team player is essential, as is having the mindset of a problem-solver.

Furthermore, Future in Design and Blacksmith International are looking for individuals that take pride in their work, have the ability to follow directions and are interested in learning new skills.
