The Emery Lady Spartans outlasted the Beaver Beavers 34-32 Friday night in the 2A Semifinals in Richfield, earning a spot in the 2A Championship game Saturday night.

Megan Jensen scored a team high 10 points and grabbed eight boards all while anchoring the middle of the paint for Emery. She also had four blocks. Bailey Huggard was right next to Jensen, finishing the game with four points and seven rebounds and two blocks. Morgan Hurdsman, starting in the place of the injured Kacelyn Toomer (broken ankle), chipped in seven points.

Despite missing four free throws in the final two minutes, the Lady Spartans buckled down defensively, forcing Beaver to take a three as time expired.

Emery led 18-10 at the break, but little by little Beaver chipped away at the lead to force a showdown in the end.

The Lady Spartans will face a familiar foe in the 2A Championship game as North Sevier thrashed Kanab 69-55 in the other semifinal. The two, both out of Region 15, have faced each other twice this season, both ending in Emery wins. The Lady Spartans beat the Wolves 73-40 on Jan. 12 in Castle Dale. Then on Feb. 2, Emery came from behind to beat North Sevier in Salina, 60-50.
