Emery’s 5th and Under Rodeo Team member Graycee Mills was awarded a saddle for winning all-around reserve at the State Finals Rodeo in Hurricane over the weekend.
Mills is an 11-year-old fifth grader and the daughter of Jimmy and Emily Mills of Castle Dale. This award was a result of her performance at the year’s rodeos. She was first in pole bending, second in breakaway roping and barrels, and third in goat tying.
Other teammates scoring in the top ten included Kamz Rich, seventh in steer riding; Orrin McElprang, third in steer riding; Stace Gilbert, fifth in breakaway roping; and Monty Christiansen, second in steer riding, seventh in pole bending, sixth in barrels and eighth in goat tying.
At the junior high rodeos at the same venue and date, Byron Christiansen secured all-around awards on Friday and also on Saturday. Other teammates of the Emery Junior High Rodeo Club receiving points were Kayson Jensen, Zeek Weber and Race Gordon. These young cowboys are preparing for their State Finals in Heber City the last week of May.
