The Mont Harmon Middle School auditorium played host to Carbon School District’s spelling bee that took place on Thursday morning. Beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending just after 11 a.m., the bee consisted of 33 rounds of spelling by the competitors. Schools in Carbon County hosted their own spelling bees to determine which students would compete at the district level.

By the end of the bee, three of the top spellers were left standing. Twin brothers Garrett and Pierce Bryner, both eighth grade students at Mont Harmon Middle School, earned the title of second and third place, respectively. The first place winner of the Carbon School District spelling bee was Chloe Garvin, who is a fourth grade student at Castle Heights Elementary.

These three students will now compete in the region spelling bee that is scheduled to take place in the Green River High School auditorium on Thursday, March 8. The winner of the region spelling bee will then go on to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
