Emery’s difficult preseason continued when #12 Judge Memorial visited the Spartan Center on Tuesday night. The Lady Bulldogs brought back their entire starting squad from last year, including the state’s leading scorer, Teya Sidberry. The talented sophomore led all scorers with 22 points.
Emery did not start the game well and trailed quickly 9-0. The Lady Bulldogs looked reminiscent of the championship Spartan teams from the last two years. Judge’s group forced Emery to play the Bulldog’s game and controlled both ends of the court. They held the Lady Spartans to 25 percent shooting and forced 15 turnovers. Judge’s experience and confidence took over the match as they defeated Emery 62-36.
Baylee Jacobson again led the Spartans with 16 points followed by Bethany Justice with 10 points and six rebounds. Only five Lady Spartans found the basket in the game.
The Spartans (4-4) will play in a tournament at the Sevier Valley Center this weekend. They will take on North Sanpete (1-7) on Friday and Manti (5-3) on Saturday.
