On May 17, Twice Upon A Time, a thrift store in Green River, hosted an open house and fundraiser for the Humane Society of Moab. They offered free hot dogs, popcorn and stuffed animals.
The owner of the store, Valynda Paminteri, took initiative and invited the Humane Society of Moab to Green River to help bring awareness to the stray cat issue in Green River. They have a station for the stray cats behind the store and have caught, spayed/neutered, and released twenty cats so far.
The representatives of the Humane Society of Moab talked about how this really needs to be a community effort. When the vet comes to Green River, they can take care of the animals while there, but the rest of the time the trapped cats are taken to Moab, and then back. The Humane Society is a 501C nonprofit organization, so donations help with care of the animals, as well as gas going back and forth between Moab and Green River.
