On Thursday evening at the Helper City Council meeting, two Helper Police officers were honored for their outstanding heroism.

Officer Adam Sandoval was honored after a June 3 call that included an unconscious female who was found lying in bushes. When Sandoval arrived on scene, he noticed that the female was not breathing. He performed CPR and revived the female before Helper Rescue 3 team transferred her to the hospital. If it weren’t for Sandoval’s quick actions, the female may have perished. Sandoval received the lifesaving award that was presented by Helper City Police Chief Trent Anderson.

Chief Anderson and Sandoval were also given an award from Helper City Mayor Ed Chavez. On June 23,  Helper City Police and the Carbon Metro Drug Task Force served a warrant that resulted in a drug bust and the removal of one the most significant drug dealers in Carbon County. Many months went into this investigation.

“As mayor of Helper, I want to thank Chief Anderson for the significant role he played in assisting the drug task force,” Chavez said.

Officer Dona Archuleta received a plaque and ribbon for her rescue efforts, but she was not present at the meeting. On June 20, Archuleta responded to a call in Spring Glen for a unconscious male. She performed CPR on the male and with a help of a defibrillator was able to save his life. The Carbon County Ambulance then transported the male to the hospital.
