United Way of Eastern Utah was gifted with a sizable donation at the Carbon County Commission meeting that took place on Tuesday afternoon. This donation was presented to United Way by Carbon County Recreation Director Frank Ori.

Accompanying Frank Ori for this presentation was the entire USU Eastern softball team as well as United Way Director Cheryl Wilcox. Ori stated that he asked the softball team members to present with him so that he could recognize them for volunteering their time at various tournaments that raised funds.

The donation that Ori had ready to present, totaling $4,236, came from two events: the Breast Cancer Awareness Softball Tournament and the International Days 5K Run. This donation directly benefits the Live.Love.Local cancer fund that currently has over ten families that are cared for through United Way of Eastern Utah.

Wilcox accepted the donation and expressed her appreciation.

“Thank you to Frank for organizing this thing and putting this together,” Wilcox stated.
