Earlier this year, in August, the canvas election results for the preliminary elections were released for Carbon and Emery counties.
Many elected official positions were available in the 2019 voting year with unofficial results released on Tuesday evening. Final counts may change as mail in ballots are received.
On the Castle Dale City Council, there were up to three vacancies to vote for. The top three votes were for Jordan Leonard (249), Joel S. Dorsch (236) and Bradley H. Giles at 224. The remaining candidates were Mary V. Kava at 126 and Ted Allen (118).
The Clawson Town Mayor for a two-year term was a write-in for Gary Price at 42. There was a singular opening for a one-year term on the Clawson Town Council with write-in Jerry Price winning at 34 with competitor Bill Wagner following at 23.
For a four-year term on the Clawson Town Council, the draw was close. Robert Riley won with 50 while Erik Nielsen was close behind with 47. Meanwhile, the Cleveland Town Council had two vacancies, both for four-year terms. Trevor Rowley was on top with 76, followed closely by Brydi Sharp at 72. Katie Player received 32 votes while Nancy Livingston received 26.
Emery Town Council had one opening for both the two-year and four-year terms. For the two-year term, write-in Sam Payne had 11 votes. Patrick N. Sundstrom received 56 votes for the four-year term. Ferron City Council had one opening for a two-year term, which Dell M. Mead won with 199, followed by Brad Richman at 167.
Furthermore, Ferron’s council had three four-year terms. The votes came in with Donald Troy Winter at 299, Shala Hunsaker at 228, Christopher Ronald Quayle-Winn at 220 and Randy D. Fox at 158.
The position for Green River’s City Mayor ran unopposed and saw Travis Bacon with 164 votes. There was one opening for a two-year term on the Green River City Council, with candidates Larry G. Packer (110) and Penney Riches (97). For four-year terms, Green River had three openings. Kathy Ryan came out on top with 143, followed by Bo Harrison at 116. Kent Homer Nelson had 108, Anna Evans had 93 and Kimberly K. Andrus had 74.
A two-year term for the Huntington City Mayor saw Leonard L. Norton unopposed with 362 votes.
There were three openings available for four-year terms on the Huntington City Council. Jerry Livingston and Lesa Miller tied with 249, followed by David L. Emery with 211. Patsy Stoddard saw 199 votes, Tom Kay saw 109 and Hilary Gordon finished out the votes with 105.
Finally, the proposition for the Castle Valley Special Service District (CVSSD) Utah Bond Election had 1,146 in favor with 427 in opposition.
