Press Release

A recent newspaper article discussed “How to Cut the Cost of Auto Insurance.” The article did not mention that senior drivers are able to cut the cost of their auto insurance by taking a Driver Safety Course. By law, in Utah, drivers over 55 years of age can receive a discount.

Different auto insurance companies determine what discount they offer. By taking an AARP Driver Safety Class, drivers are eligible to receive the discount, which is good for three years. If both spouses take the class, they will both receive the discount.

Carbon County Senior Center is sponsoring an AARP Driver Safety Class on Thursday, August 10, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The class provides several short videos and a workbook dealing not only about the changes that take place with drivers as they age, but also information about changes with the newer automobiles and the changing roads and highways we use.

The class will also discuss the latest highway rules and regulations that have been passed. There are no tests given and the class is open to not only AARP members but others. Cost of the four hour class is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. To sign up for the class, contact the senior center at (435) 636-3202.
