Law enforcement officials responded to a fatal accident involving two passenger vehicles and a semi-truck on Highway 6 near mile marker 251 on the hill just outside of Wellington at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

There were two fatalities on the scene, and three victims were transported to Castleview Hospital with Life Flight en route. Names and identities have not been released pending notification of family.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Bradley Shaw reported that a “small black Dodge Neon was traveling westbound” when it drifted off the road. The vehicle’s driver allegedly over-corrected, crossed the centerline and slammed into an oncoming tan Hyundai. The Hyundai was then pushed into the semi-truck.

The Dodge looked to have been shorn into two pieces.

Shaw, who was the investigative Trooper on scene, said that two of the four passengers in the Hyundai were pronounced dead at the scene. The other two passengers, as well as the driver of the Dodge were injured. He reported the semi-truck driver was physically uninjured but “very shaken up.”

Officials closed all lanes on Highway 6 near the accident for over an hour. Traffic was backed up approximately three miles into Wellington before the scene was cleared, and one lane of traffic was allowed through at approximately 2:15 p.m.

Various Law enforcement and fire units, as well as UHP Officers were at the scene.

We will bring you more information about the accident and the identities of those involved as soon as possible.
