Members of the community were welcomed to USU Eastern’s Geary Event Center for a suicide prevention event on Thursday evening.
This event was free and provided snacks and beverages for those in attendance. There was a free showing of the new film “Suicide: Ripple Effect.” This film is a true story about how 19-year-old Kevin Hines attempted to commit suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge and lived.
The movie showed the life of Hines and how he gets through it. He showed himself going places, even across the world, and helping people who have had an impact of suicide in their own lives, his ripple effect.
The Miss Carbon County Outstanding Teen royalty made an appearance at the evening event. Second attendant MaKinzey Cross and a couple other ladies shared their stories with the audience about the impact that suicide has had in each of their own personal lives.
