In its inaugural season and first home game of the year, the USU Eastern men’s soccer team scored a huge win over Salt Lake Community College Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles defeated SLCC 2-1 in a game that could have been decided by as much as 6-1.
The men hit the post four times in the first half, each of which deflected outside of the net.
The home crowd was fired up on Saturday, backing the Golden Eagles through their historic first game at home. Although USU Eastern will not return to their home field until Oct. 2, the fan base is strong and it appears that the addition of soccer is a success at the college.
USU Eastern will face Westminster on the road Monday, followed by games against Western Nebraska on Sept. 27 and Larmie County Community College on Sept. 28.
