USU Eastern competed against Impact Academy on Friday and Saturday, sweeping their opponents in one game and losing in an upset in game two.
On Friday, the Golden Eagles dominated Impact Academy, 124-78. A strong first half put USU Eastern in a good place as they took the lead 58-34. 60% three-point shooting carried the team through the night along with 18 steals. A strong bench performance also helped the team with 86 points. Bryan Harris led the Eagle’s offense with 18 points on the night followed by Gemaal Davis with 17.
Saturday’s game did not go as smooth for the Eagles. The teams stayed close in points throughout the game, ending the first half with Impact Academy in the lead, 49-42. Two missed free throws and a missed jump shot in the last minute of play ended the game with an Eagle loss, 85-81. Hamdi Karoui led USU Eastern’s offense with 32 points and eight offensive rebounds.
The Eagles will now travel to Twin Falls, Idaho to take on Treasure Valley Community College on Nov. 21. The following day, the team will play against Planet Athlete Academy.
