The USU Eastern women’s basketball team fell short against Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) in its region opener in Price on Thursday. A run from the Eagles in the second half was not enough to secure a win against their Salt Lake rivals.

USU Eastern was in trouble early as SLCC used a 11-1 run in the first three minutes of play. Even with an offensive push by the Eagles, SLCC led 54-26 at the half.

Despite a higher scoring second half, the Eagles scored 36 to SLCC’s 24, USU Eastern was not able to wrap up a region win. Maddy Murphy led the offense with 15 points along with Ana Borges’ 11 points off the bench.

The Eagles will take on Snow College on Saturday, Dec. 13 in Price. Tip off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
