The Lady Eagles traveled to Wyoming to participate in the Casper College Tournament Thursday through Saturday. The team was victorious by the end of the weekend and came home with three wins under their belt.
In the Eagle’s first game of the tournament on Thursday, the team swept Western Wyoming Community College with an 88-72 win. Ana Borges led the team off the bench with 21 points. Twelve three-point shots compared to Western’s four helped secure the win for USU Eastern.
On Friday, the Eagle’s took on host Casper College and pulled out another win, 87-79. Barbara Cousino led the team with 20 points followed by Bryanna Adams with 17. Twelve steals and 13 offensive rebounds by USU Eastern led the team to another win in the tournament.
In the Eagle’s last game on Saturday, the team narrowly edged out Northeastern Junior College, 82-79. USU Eastern led 36-32 at the half. The team’s solid defense, with 12 steals and 8 blocks, earned them their third win in the tournament. Jamie Smith contributed 23 points in the game followed by Borges with 15.
The Lady Eagles will now take a break before returning to play on Nov. 29 against Central Wyoming College.
