The USU Eastern men’s and women’s soccer teams took to the field over the weekend, both competing in two games a piece. The women walked away with two wins while the men split on the road.
The men first traveled to Sheridan College, where they grabbed a 4-0 win. Peter Martinez, Luis Rico, Jesus Chavez and Andres Garza each scored a goal for USU Eastern in the matchup. The team then traveled to Northwest Community College, where they suffered a 3-0 loss.
The women came out on top in both of their games, earning wins against Sheridan College and Northwest Community College. Against Sheridan, the women netted the ball once and kept the opposition at bay. McCalle Reilly scored the lone goal for USU eastern, attributing to the 1-0 win. The women then traveled to Northwest and beat the team 2-0. Tayler Buhrow and Kelcie George scored the goals for USU Eastern.
“Both teams played well, although they both started a little flat in the Saturday games, but turned it around in the second half,” coaches shared on the USU Eastern Soccer team Facebook page. “Unfortunately, the boys didn’t turn it around quick enough to win their game.”
The teams will looks for wins this weekend when they travel to Texas before returning to Price to play the first home game of the season.
